An exceptionally rare jeweled evening bag by EA Bliss Co., the American manufacturer that would later become Napier. Crafted in gold-tone plated German silver mesh, the bag features a beautifully sculpted floral frame adorned with fully faceted amethyst-colored glass jewels, each bezel set by hand. A distinctive harlequin mesh overlay supports the original articulated fringe, creating remarkable movement and texture.
The mesh remains in excellent antique condition with expected wear to the frame plating consistent with age and use. The original jeweled ornamentation and dangling fringe remain intact. One decorative fleur is mounted upside down, believed to be original to the bag rather than the result of a later repair. The interior is hallmarked and monogrammed "CMC."
